What can we accomplish?

How can we use science to make our world better? How far can technology take us?

Comfort amid hardship. Health amid sickness. According to the Bible, death and decay entered creation because of humanity’s rebellion against God. Human beings had been appointed by God as stewards over creation, with dominion over other living creatures. God now gave humanity the added responsibility of caring for the brokenness humanity produced.

Centuries of observations and discoveries have revealed more and more about nature and its processes. The Bible has encouraged some of history’s most remarkable innovators to improve the human condition and push the boundaries of knowledge into new frontiers.

“Cursed is the ground because of you; in pain you shall eat of it all the days of your life; thorns and thistles it shall bring forth for you; . . . By the sweat of your face you shall eat bread.”
Genesis 3:17–19

This exhibition explores the Bible’s role in the historical relationship between science and religion. Many today believe that religious faith and the natural sciences are very separate subjects. Indeed, many consider the Bible to be an obstacle to scientific progress. Yet, for centuries, faith and the study of nature were very much entangled. At times, biblical beliefs helped encourage people to study the world. They even influenced the rise of science as we know it today.
